Turn 8 Bad Habits into Strengths...

We set ourselves up for supreme disappointment when we get stuck and wallow in frustration and regrets. Not to mention, it is a complete waste of time! By shifting the definition of our setbacks, we can view our mishaps, wrong turns, and mistakes through a positive lens, instead of swallowing a bitter pill. Here are a few examples:

Expecting Life To Be Easy

Most of us have figured out that nothing in life comes easy. Just like the old saying, “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right”. Things take time. Shifting an expectation of “easy” to “worth it” can be the first step in becoming stronger. Once difficult challenges are handled, they can be quite rewarding.

Allowing One Bad Event To Keep You Down

We all have bad moments, bad days, and challenges; so, don’t let a bad moment define you. Chalk it up to experience, a lesson, and part of life. If you are not making mistakes what are you learning? The faster you can “let it go” and get back to living the better. Would you keep watching a terrible movie over and over and over again? Well, stop letting one bad event take up that much space in your head. Negative rent is just too expensive.

Holding On To Toxic People

Remove toxic people from your life immediately. If you keep getting burned why return to the flame? Get yourself into a life boat and row the hell away. Drop them like they’re hot and find your inner peace. You’ll be much happier without the constant drama and chaos.

Allowing Ego To Take Over

Do you appreciate the people in our life that matter the most? How often do you say something you don’t mean? When you make mistakes, be quick to say, “I’m sorry.” If you’ve burnt a bridge, be a grown up and repair the damage. In the long run, life is sweeter with loyal friends and family in your corner. Shoving your ego in the closet will make you a better and happier person.

Quitting When Things Get Tough

If you love something, never let anyone or anything rob you of your passion. Never give up control of your life by allowing others to make decisions for you. Most challenges, when given the proper attention, will benefit you and force you into a positive direction. Quitting too soon will haunt you. Never lose sight of who you are and what you want in life. If you’ve already made this mistake, now is the time to step up and retake your life!

Trying To Be Perfect

No one is perfect, so chasing that dragon will only exhaust you. Be confident in your strength and embrace your weakness. Learning to pause and take a breather is smart. Know your limits and accept failure as a part of the learning process. When you can shift what is in your control and be 100% responsible for it, then you will more easily understand what is out of your control and cannot be changed. You can feel as if you are set free.

Not Taking Care Of Yourself

We all know we need to eat right, exercise and control our vice intake. If you are not doing these things; how will you ever truly feel good? Start doing the things you know you should be doing. Don’t make any more excuses for your life if you are not fueling your body with what it needs to perform at its best. Put yourself at the top of your priority list.

Not Handling Your Responsibilities

If you tend to procrastinate; now is the time to shift into action. Leaving business unfinished will weigh heavily on your mind and steal your peace. Even if they are baby steps, at least you’re moving forward, not backward. Once you’ve tackled a massive challenge; reward yourself.

“One day your life will flash before our eyes. Make sure it’s worth watching.”
