Does your hectic life feel like season five of a TV series? You know, when the writers throw in “the crazy” just to keep the plot interesting? Yet, this isn’t a television show. This is your life! You need to lower the drama and the stress. Here are a few tips to help you hop off the crazy train before you go off the rails:
Write it down
Keep a journal to track your time and see where you need to insert a much-needed commercial break. It’s easy to keep on trucking throughout the day if you have not scheduled some stops along the way. However, eventually, you’re going to run out of steam if you don’t get some downtime. Pencil it in!
Start delegating tasks to friends and family. It’s about time the kids started doing their own laundry, create some dinner plans, and help more around the house. If you feel like you’re constantly in the car driving people around, create a carpool system between other parents or co-workers. If you don’t have the time to do it right, when will you have the time to do it over? Hand out those tasks like candy and free up a little time for you.
Give in to passion
Stop putting passion on the back burner and start making time for the things that make you feel alive. If you love to read, write, paint, scrapbook or sing, find the time for those gems. When we tap into our creative side, it can feel as sweet as a summer rain, wind blowing through your hair, or watching a shooting star.
When we ignore our needs and starve our passions, we have a one-way ticket on the crazy train. We might be moving, but we’re never going anywhere that matters. It’s time to hit pause, organize and delegate so we may enjoy life in its simplistic beauty. Slowing things down to take care of yourself will not only make you happier, but those around you will notice too.
