If you want to keep your brain young at any age, you must give it a workout to keep it in shape, just like you would any other muscle in your body. I have seen people in their 80+ years of life with more brain power than some who are in their twenties. Why is that? Because they do mental exercises to keep their minds in shape.

In this article we list a few easy tricks you can do to improve brain functions. Take a look…
Get up on that stage
If you have ever thought about becoming and actor, now’s the best time to push your fears aside and step onto that stage. It will push you out of your comfort zone and introduce you to a whole new world. A theater group could be a great way to meet new people and a chance to be someone else for a change. Maybe you’ll play an individual who’s a pilot, or perhaps an addict who struggles each day with an addiction, or a character that was created by William Shakespeare. What a great adventure to take on! You’ll reach into those deep places of your brain that might have fallen asleep. Give it a whirl. You might become the next big thing! Kids stay sharp through pretend play. Acting is pretending for grown-ups.
Learn to play a musical instrument
This is where the internet becomes useful. If you have a musical instrument, you can Youtube almost anything and learn how to play right from the comfort of your own home. If you like to be more social, this is an excellent opportunity to take a class with other eager students like yourself. Plus, music is a great craft to submerge yourself into. Once you’ve achieved some success, it can be a very satisfying accomplishment. Some great starter instruments include ukulele, the recorder (get a sweet-sounding wooden one if you don’t want a plastic whistle-induced migraine), or the drums.
Play those brain games
Get out those crossword puzzles. Or you can be like Stanley from The Office and play those search-a-word games or start solving those sudoku puzzles. Anything that makes you think is what your brain needs to stay in shape. Check out some of those brain-game-apps on your phone and flex those thinking muscles. You’ll be smarter in no time.
Start a new hobby by taking a painting, writing, or pottery class
This is your chance to see what hidden gems you may possess by trying something new. When we lose ourselves into a project, we can hit a place where time seems to stand still. It’s that creative zone that allows us to shape the world into something only our unique life-lens can see. It becomes art, an expression from within. Our gift to the universe. The benefit to your mind is also enormous when you unleash your creativity.
