Everyone has a quirk, bad habit or something they would like to change about themselves to be seen in a more positive light. Loving ourselves starts with acceptance. The good, the bad, and the embarrassing has taught us valuable life lessons. We are ever changing and evolving beings. Here are a few tips on how to create a positive self-image.

Fake it ’til you make it

We have all heard that coined phrase, but to actually change your life, one needs to take action. Sometimes, it’s truly the last thing we want to do, but deep down we know we need to do it. Start small and work toward your goal. Put a picture in your mind of who you want to be then become that person. For example, if you wanted to become a personal trainer one would study what successful trainers do, what makes them great at their jobs, what they eat and how they live. What exercise programs work best? What type of training do you want to specialize in? How do they market themselves? How do they interact with clients? The more positive your self-image is, the easier it will be to carry out your goal. Eat, sleep, and breathe this routine for a few weeks and next thing you know, you’ll become one.

Dress the part

If you are looking for a promotion or a new job, then you need to look the part. Dress “as if” the job were yours already. The positive message will be received by others when they start seeing you in a different light. Potential employers will now see you’re a star candidate because really… Isn’t that what you are? This is another example of how a positive self-image will manifest change in your life.

Write a positive To-Do list

Goals are only ideas and wishes until we take the proper steps to make them a reality. Create a positive but realistic task-list. If you want a job with a certain company, make a point to set up those interviews. Don’t allow discouragement rob you of your dreams. If you are not qualified for a particular position, then start taking the necessary classes you need to attain those skills. Take positive steps as a part of your To-Do list. If you do nothing, when will your life ever change? The more active steps you take toward your goals, the more chances you’ll have to succeed.

Meditate

The more you view yourself as successful, the more success you will have. Take time every day to dwell on those happy and positive life changing thoughts. Tell yourself you ARE qualified; you ARE a perfect match, and you WILL achieve success. Remember, good things are attracted to a positive person.

Now add those points together.

  • Believe in yourself.

The more you convince yourself of who you want to be, the more your mind and body will obey. When we were young, we would play pretend all the time, why should that change once we reach adulthood? Now’s the time to find out; Who do you want to be?
